Khamari Gibbs threw three touchdown passes to DeQuan Johnson, but it wasn’t enough as the Southside Panthers (2-6) fell Friday to Clarke County 48-32.
Gibbs also ran for a touchdown for Southside, who was playing its sixth consecutive road game.
The Panthers trailed throughout, but still had a chance late in the game after pulling within ten in the fourth quarter. Three fumbles ended up costing Southside dearly.
“We fumbled three times and those were some key moments in the game,” said Southside head coach Daniel Flowers.
Clarke County (3-5) led 32-21 at halftime.
The loss officially ends any hopes Southside had of making the playoffs this season as the Panthers fell to 0-5 in class 4A, region 1.
Southside will celebrate homecoming next week against W.S. Neal on Thursday night.
The game will be Southside’s first home game since playing Keith on Aug. 28.
