Southside High School football player De’Quan Johnson garnered some statewide attention after his performance last week in the Panthers’ overtime win over Keith.

Johnson was featured in this week’s Alabama High School Athletic Association’s prep spotlight after scoring five touchdowns to lead Southside past Keith 38-32.

In the game, he caught four touchdown passes, including the game winner in OT, and also returned an interception 80-yards for a touchdown.

Johnson had six receptions for 201 yards and also ran the ball three times for 28 yards.

Southside trailed 8-0 when the game was postponed Friday due to lightning in the area. Keith upped its lead to 16-0 when the game resumed Saturday.
