The deadline to register for youth football in Selma has been extended to Thursday at 6 p.m. Director of Selma youth football Terry Jackson said he wants more kids of ages five and six to sign up.

Jackson has 345 kids already signed up to play and plans to have four age groups with three teams in each age group.

This season, Jackson has an age group of 5- and 6-year olds, a group of 7- and 8-year-olds, a group of 9- and 10-year-olds and a group of 11- and 12-year-olds.

Jackson hopes more children of young ages will sign up because the age differences are more evenly balanced this season.

The registration fee is $10 and parents must bring their child and their child’s birth certificate with them to the Selma Recreation Department.
