A back-to-school bash will be held Saturday at the Beloit Community Center.
The event, organized by Kim Moppins, is in its fourth year.
Moppins said she is excited about this year’s giveaway. School supplies will be given to students from grades K-12.
“I love children, and this is something I like doing,” she said. “ I usually do 100 book bags, but this year I’m going to do right at 200.”
Book bags filled with loose leaf paper, tablets, binders, copy paper, pencils, pens, erasers and more will be distributed to children.
But it’s not all school. There will be plenty of games, including water slides.
Moppins said she saw a need in the community, and decided to address it.
“I feel like some parents have four or five children and some school systems really don’t do anything for children, as far as buying stuff,” Moppins said. “So, the parents have to buy so much stuff in order for their children to go to school.”
Moppins said she would like to thank all of the individuals and organizations who donated supplies. The bash will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Beloit Community Center, located on Alabama Highway 22.
