Dallas County High School will begin its school year with two new leaders.
On Monday, the Dallas County Board of Education approved Todd Reece as the school’s new principal and Willie Moore as the school’s new assistant principal.
Reece was the assistant principal at Martin Middle School for the past three years. Recently, he was appointed Dallas County’s assistant principal before the promotion.
Moore is Dallas County High School’s athletic director, boys basketball coach and driver’s education teacher.
“Todd’s a great addition to our administrative team,” said Dallas County Superintendent Don Willingham. “We felt real good about him from the start so we went through the interview process. We were comfortable in the final decision and glad Todd’s the new principal.”
Willingham is just as excited about Moore becoming the assistant principal, while continuing to coach the school’s boys basketball team.
He said the two new leaders are a great match for the system.
“It’s a team the community has confidence in and will feel good about sending their children to them,” Willingham said. “They’re both good men with great character, and they are strong community people.
“Both believe in Dallas County’s system and the schools. We’re fortunate to have them.”
Community members present at Monday’s meeting were pleased with the decision.
Some community members and parents of children who attend Dallas County Schools agreed with Willingham’s recommendations.
Frances Kendrick attended the meeting, and was pleased when she heard the two men would lead the school.
“We’re excited the superintendent has brought before us two names of people we are comfortable with,” Frances Kendrick said. They’re already in our community, and have been involved with our schools. We’re just tickled they’re going to be able to move into a position of leading our students by improving the educational experience of Dallas County High School.”
Both contracts are effective immediately.
