Selma City Schools has come up with an interesting way for parents and students to meet teachers and staff with its Back to School Bash.
The event will include free food and games and a performance by a group called Souled Out.
“The superintendent will be there, along with principals and teachers of each school for people to meet,” said Selma City Schools public relations professional Aelia Adams. “We want parents to come out to see what Selma City Schools has to offer to their children.”
Every school in the system will have a booth at the bash. Information on curriculum, after-school programs and more will be given out.
Superintendent Angela Mangum said she is looking forward to the event.
“I think it will be an event that will bring everything together like all community partners, teachers, principals, students and parents together to celebrate education,” she said.
Mangum said she hopes those who come out understand the role the community as in ensuring students receive a quality education.
“I hope they leave with the sense there are important partners in education, and we need them to help create a viable school system that can meet the needs of the children,” she said. “We just want everyone to be proud of our new Selma City School System.”
The Back to School Bash will be held Saturday at the Selma High School gymnasium at 8 a.m. to noon.
