The Beloit Community Association will host its second annual Fun Day on Saturday.

“We wanted to have something that the people in the community can look forward to doing,” said event coordinator Charlie Moppins. “That’s why we created the event last year. It will definitely become an annual thing.”

The event will host Dr. Feel Good of 105.3 WBFZ Radio, a gospel stage from 2 p.m. to 4p.m. and an R&B stage starting at 4 p.m. The R&B stage will feature artists such as the Lyrica Groove Band.

Along with music, contests will also provide entertainment for attendees. There will be a motorcycle show that will include four categories: loudest sports bike, sharpest sports bike, cleanest cruiser bike and loudest cruiser bike. Moppins says that the winner of each category will receive a trophy. There will also be a barbecue rib cook-off.

The Cook-Off will have a first, second, and third place winner who will all receive a trophy.

“Everybody’s always bragging about how they grill. I created the cook-off competition so now we’ll find out just how well they cook,” Mopppins said. “There won’t be any pre-marinated foods, everything they cook, they’ll cook at the show.”

Water slides and bouncers will be available for children. Moppins states that the event was originally created to get the younger people of Selma involved in the community.

“I know it’s going to be hot, but the trees have breezes,” Moppins said. “Come on out, you’ll be in for one of the best times of your life.”

The event will be hosted at the Community Center from 10 a.m. – until. Registration for the BBQ rib cook-off is from 10 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. The registration fee for the bike show is $10. Moppins invites vendors to sell at the event free of charge, but says a $20 donation would be appreciated.
