Staci Jones has joined The Selma Times-Journal staff as an intern for the summer.

Jones comes to Selma from Alabama State University, where she will graduate next May with a degree in broadcast journalism and a minor in psychology.

She was born in Lancaster, S.C., where she resided until her move to Montgomery in August 2012 for undergraduate studies.

Journalism has always been one of Staci’s passions.

“Ever since I was a child, I was what people would consider being ‘very inquisitive.’ Journalism allows me the opportunity to do just that — and take my findings and effectively deliver them to an audience,” Jones said.

Jones is an active student at ASU and has been on the Dean’s List, with a cumulative 4.0 GPA. After graduation, she plans to attend Howard University to receive a PhD in neuropsychology.

During her time as an intern, Jones will contribute to The Selma Times-Journal, Selma The Magazine and other publications.

“We look forward to have Staci in Selma this summer and the work she will produce while here,” said editor Justin Averette.
