Benjamin Cullen Nichols, age 84, of Selma, passed away May 29, 2015.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Clayton Nichols and Annie Laura Ham Nichols Rogers; step-father, Henry T. Rogers; brothers, James C. Nichols, James T. Rogers and Archie G. Rogers; and sisters, Bernice N. Hughey and Judy R. Oakes.

He is survived by his wife, Eleanor Coon Nichols; children, Benjamin C. (Sydney) Nichols Jr., Jeffrey C. (Sherrie) Nichols and Patrick A. (Brooke) Nichols; brother, John T. (Nina) Rogers; brothers-in-law, John Coon Jr., Thomas Oakes and Bill (Lynn) Dailey; sisters-in-law, Frances Nichols and Laverne Rogers; mother-in-law, Frances Coon; grandchildren, John Allen Nichols, Hope Nichols, Haley Nichols, Doston Nichols and Clayton Nichols; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be Sunday, May 31, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Selma Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Benjamin Nichols Jr. and the Rev. Cory Horton officiating. Interment will be in Pineview Memory Gardens with Selma Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1-2 p.m.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Mr. Nichols retired from the U.S. Postal Service and established Nichols Deer Processing. He was a member of Elkdale Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He was a member of the VFW, the Lion’s Club of Selma, American Legion and was an avid golfer.
