The 2015 Paul M. Grist Boy of the Year and the 2015 Delta Kappa Gamma Girl of the Year programs Tuesday recognize the hard work and accomplishments of dozens of local high school seniors.
The candidates are selected from seniors in area high schools who excel in Christian leadership, scholastics, athletic achievements and extracurricular activities.
There are 14 nominations for Boy of the Year and 19 for Girl of the Year. These students have shown what it takes to be outstanding young adults and we applaud them in their achievements.
The Boy of the Year ceremony will take place tonight at 6:30 p.m. at the Carl C. Morgan Convention Center.
There will also be a reception for past winners and this year’s nominees at 5:30 p.m. Aubrey Carter, manager of Alabama Power Company, will be the guest speaker.
The Girl of the Year ceremony will be held tonight at 7 p.m. at the Striplin Performing Arts Center.
It’s young men and women like these nominees that are going to help shape the Queen City for the future and we are proud to see them achieve such great honors.
We wish good luck to all of them and hope they continue to strive for the best in the future.
