Hand bell concerts set for Sunday

Judson College’s choir and hand bell ensemble will make put on 10 performances in six straight days.
The tour is free and will include three stops in Selma this Sunday.
Judson College music department director Dr. Camilla Horne said attendees will definitely enjoy what the tour has to offer.
“They’re (attendees) going to be in for a treat,” she said. “We have a lot of different music. Your spirit is going to be uplifted. We are spreading the good news of the gospel through music.”
The group will perform May 3 at First Baptist Church in Selma at 10:45 a.m., at Cedar Hills Assisted Living Home at 3 p.m. and at Jesus Day at Brown Chapel A.M.E. Church at 5 p.m.
Horne said the college has held music tours for years, and this year the college wanted to perform in areas where some of its students live.
“We’re also going to be in the Mobile area where there’s a lot of Judson alumni, so we can celebrate the fact there are Judson women all over,” she said.
First Baptist Church Selma Pastor Jerry Light Sr. said he is excited to have the tour stop by his church. The group will also be be present at the Jesus Day event that will be held at 5 p.m. at Brown Chapel A.M.E. Church.
“We’ve got a long standing relationship with Judson College,” he said. “We love that school. It’s one of the hidden secrets of the Black Belt.”
