U.S. Sen. Richard Shelby has scheduled a trip to Selma.
The Selma-Dallas County Chamber of Commerce is offering the community a chance to have lunch with the senator Monday, Feb. 16 at noon.
The lunch, which costs $15 to attend, will be held at the Larry D. Striplin, Jr. Performing Arts Center located on 1000 Selma Ave.
“We always welcome our elected officials,” said Chamber Executive Director Sheryl Smedley. “Anytime someone comes to visit, we’re glad to have them come.”
During the lunch, Shelby will speak to the crowd and guests will have a chance to interact with the senator in a question-and-answer session.
Shelby visits each of Alabama’s 67 counties at least once a year.
He stopped by the Hanii E-Hwa Interior Systems in Selma in late January 2014. The trip was part of an Alabama Jobs and Industry Tour, when he visited a business in each Alabama county.
By January 2014, Shelby had made more than 18,000 county visits since his first term in the U.S. Senate.
The deadline to make reservations is Feb. 12. Tickets are nonrefundable.
