Preparation for life after high school critical

High school seniors, the big day is drawing closer. Soon you’ll be walking across the stage to grab your diploma, shake the hands of the people that helped you earn it and smile for the cameras during your graduation ceremony.
From that day forward, life will be much different, and you should be prepared for it. That’s why attending the 7th annual Gearing Up for College Workshop scheduled for Thursday at the Carl C. Morgan Center is critical. Scheduled for 6 p.m. and hosted by Selma City Council President Corey Bowie, the event will feature more than four colleges and the National Guard. Each is prepared to inform students about the courses they offer, the admission requirements, housing applications and other opportunities it offers.
The workshop is also offering its participants a chance to win scholarships, which will each range from $500 to $1,000.
This would be an excellent way for students to learn more about some of the options they have for their life post graduation and receive college funds to help pay for it. We recommend that the youth attend with their parents, so they can enjoy their big day less stressed about what’s to come afterwards.
