Relay for Life in Selma and Dallas County is holding its kickoff event Tuesday at the George P. Evans reception hall.

We encourage anyone who would like to start their own team to participate in the event. Relay for Life not only celebrates those who have beaten cancer, but it also is leading fundraising efforts to defeat the unrelenting disease.

Relay for Life has raised nearly $5 billion nationally since getting started in 1985 and continues to set the tone in the fight against cancer.

We all know someone who has been diagnosed with cancer or had their lives affected by the loss of a loved one who had to battle cancer, which means we all know the importance of giving back.

The American Cancer Society and researchers continue to work to find ways to fight cancer, but they need all the help can get for research efforts.

That’s where we come in.

Starting a team for Relay for Life and helping to lead fundraising efforts is a great way to get involved. The Selma and Dallas County Relay for life would like to raise $115,000. They can’t do it without your help.
