Be sure to have fun, safe Halloween

The excitement of Halloween is nearly undeniable.
The frightful fall holiday gives children a chance to dress as countless people or things and explore their neighborhood in search for tasty treats. As wonderful as Halloween may be, it also presents some dangers that parents and kids need to be mindful of when they celebrate.
Trick-or-treaters should hold a flashlight while trick-or-treating to see and be seen, avoid running from house to house, look both ways before crossing the street, fasten reflective tape to costumes and bags to be more visible to drivers, avoid decorative contacts, only enter homes with trusted adults and more, according to the Centers of Disease Control’s website.
While diving in to a goody bag of treats immediately after it is collected is understandably tempting, its safer for the contents of goody bags be inspected before they are eaten. And children should not accept anything that is not commercially wrapped, according to CDC.
Because Halloween is so fun, the last thing we want is for people to not be able to fully enjoy it because of unfortunate circumstances that could have been avoided.
