An alleged shootout Friday injured two 30-year-old men, according to Selma Police. The incident happened in the 1800 block of Selma Avenue.
A reported fight among several people escalated to shots being fired, which left one man with multiple gunshots wounds and another with one, according to statements witnesses gave officers.
“We’re going to use every resource possible to bring those involved in these shootings to justice,” said Lt. Curtis Muhannad, with the Selma Police Department.
Selma Police responded around 8:30 p.m. Friday after getting a call about a shooting with multiple injuries.
When officers arrived no victims were there, but they did find a Nissan Maxima that had been “shot-up” and several spent shell casings on the ground, Muhannad said.
Witnesses told police that those involved in the shooting fled the scene. The two victims also left in private vehicles, Muhannad said.
Minutes later, E911 received a call from Vaughan Regional Medical Center reporting a man had arrived at the emergency room with gunshots wounds to his upper neck, upper back, left buttocks and right leg.
That victim was later transported to a hospital in Montgomery, where he is currently in critical condition and under medical evaluation.
A second call to E911 followed reporting that the second victim was found on the 300 block of King Street with a gunshot wound to the right calf muscle.
Care Ambulance Service transported the second victim to Vaughan for treatment.
The first victim refused to speak with officers or detectives about the shooting, and the second victim told authorities he didn’t know what happened, according to Muhannad.
“It is unknown if the two gunshot victims were shooting at one another, innocent by-standers or accomplices,” Muhannad said.
The shooting is still under investigation. No arrests have been made as of Monday afternoon.
Anyone with information concerning the shooting is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-442-7463 or the Secret Witness Line 874-2190.
Calls will be confidential and anyone with information leading an arrest may receive a cash reward.
