Accelerator making strides for economy

Big business announcements aren’t easy to secure, but, when announced can be huge for an economy. Small businesses, or start-ups, are slightly less enticing, because of the great deal of uncertainty surrounding the future.
A large business for Dallas County would likely be more than 100 jobs. Even 50 or so jobs is still significant.
Regardless, a large announcement is like plopping an existing operation in the area. In some cases, businesses have to invest capital in improving facilities. Though, existing companies posses the capital to invest.
Start-ups on the other hand, such tenants of the Arsenal Place Accelerator, have a more difficult path to success. In some cases, a start up just begins with an idea and a checking account.
The accelerator is investing in these entrepreneurs with just an idea and slowly trying to turn them into successful businesses. All of the existing tenants in the accelerator still have a long road ahead, but its encouraging to see new businesses opening up in Selma, especially one as unique as a coffee roasting company.
Hopefully these first few months of the accelerator’s flurry of activity is a sign of future success.
