American flag more than just decoration

Whether you call it the American flag, the Stars and Stripes or Old Glory, there’s more to it than meets the eye.
The pattern of 50 stars and 13 stripes arranged in red, white and blue is instantly recognized by all Americans.
Nearly everyone knows the pledge of allegiance. Children learn it early on and start every school day by pledging their allegiance to the flag.
Nearly everyone knows the national anthem. Most people also remember to remove their hats and place their hands over their hearts.
This all goes to say the flag of the United States of America is more than just dyed cloth. It’s a symbol we can all get behind. It’s one we all can recognize easily and find comfort in.
We live in country where we have the freedom to disagree with one another, and we make the most of that freedom.
Today is Flag Day, a commemoration of the official adoption of the United States flag in 1777.
The founding fathers knew how important it was to establish a symbol that would unite the people.
Let’s all put our disagreements aside and take a few minutes out of our day to pay respect to the stars and stripes that represent us all as Americans.
