Times-Journal welcomes Brown, Edmunds for the summer
The Selma Times-Journal announced Monday the addition of reporters Scottie Brown and Christopher Edmunds. The two have joined the Times-Journal staff as interns for the summer.
Brown, a native of Ft. Campbell, Ky., is a senior at Auburn majoring in journalism. Following the internship, Brown is scheduled to graduate with her degree in August.
“I am so thankful for the opportunity the Times-Journal has given me,” Brown said. “I cannot wait to see what Selma has in store for me.”
Edmunds, a native of Birmingham, is entering his junior year at Alabama and is majoring in journalism. He is also seeking a minor in Italian.
“The Times-Journal has given me a great opportunity,” Edmunds said. “Selma is full of stories, both old and new, and I can’t wait to get started.”
Times-Journal editor Tim Reeves said the two are a continuation of a mission the newspaper has in working with state and regional universities.
“In the past four years we have had the chance to have some of the brightest journalism students work with us for their required internships,” Reeves said. “This year is no exception. Both Scottie and Christopher come highly recommended by the faculty at their respective schools, and we are thrilled to have them here.”
Brown and Edmunds will work as reporters for the Times-Journal for the length of their internships, which will continue through late July.
“These two are tremendously talented and have a bright future in this industry,” Reeves said.
