Army Capt. Annette Williams’ ability to balance motherhood and her duties to protect the country landed her a spot as a guest on a national television show.
Williams, who serves as a mother to three and military captain, recently visited Chicago for the airing of The Steve Harvey Show.
The Steve Harvey show is a talk show hosted by comedian and entertainer Steve Harvey. Set to air May 16, the show in which she will be featured as a guest focuses on honoring military moms.
“It was an excellent experience,” Williams said. “It was a great opportunity to represent the mothers in the military, so it was like an honor.”
Williams said she earned the opportunity through filling out a survey per her army organization’s request. Williams said she was excited to find out later that she had been selected for the show.
“There are hundreds of thousands of military moms,” Williams said. “A lot of times we don’t get to share our story other than with our fellow comrades, so I think that be able to actually share it on a TV where the whole world could be watching that I literally have represented for the moms in the military.”
Williams said she also enjoyed the process of preparing for the show and the great family time that came with the trip to the set.
“It was lot to get make, hair and dress up — the whole nine yards,” Williams said. “It was also some good quality time with my family.”
The Steve Harvey Show featuring Williams is slated to air May 16 at 2 p.m. in the Selma area.
