Betty Jean Henderson Fletcher

Betty Jean Henderson Fletcher, age 78, passed away April 30, 2014. She was born July 26, 1935 in Andalusia, Alabama to Comer and Wilma Hobson Henderson. Betty was one of four children.
BJ, as she was affectionately known, graduated from Pleasant Home High School in 1952. She attended and graduated from Massey Droan Business College. After falling for the love of her life, Max Decovan Fletcher, the two were wed, November 7, 1954. They had two children; Terri Lehn Fletcher Wilkinson and Keith Decovan Fletcher. She was a member of the Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority. BJ had a huge heart, and was very philanthropic. Throughout her working career at The Gas Company and The Montgomery Civic Center, BJ made many lifelong friends, whom she cherished dearly. Upon their retirement the couple returned to their roots and settled in Heath, AL. BJ was an avid golfer and member of the Andalusia Country Club. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend.
BJ was stricken with Alzheimer’s, and though this disease was debilitating, Max catered his life to making sure BJ never suffered. BJ and Max shared a love that was timeless, all-enduring, and absolutely unforgettable.
BJ is preceded in death by the love of her life, Max D. Fletcher; her parents, Comer and Wilma Henderson; her brothers, Olan and Nolan Henderson; a son-in-law, Emmett Hewston Wilkinson; and Max’s parents, Dillard and Quinnie S. Fletcher. She is survived by her two children, Terri Lehn Fletcher Wilkinson and Keith Decovan (Kristy) Fletcher; sister, Dean (Gene) Jacobs; 7 grandchildren, Hannah Wilkinson (Matt) Johnson, Fletcher E.H. Wilkinson (Emily Griggs, fiancé), Ethan Andrew Wilkinson, Tyler Scott Welford, Sara Kinsey Brooks, Sydney Leigh Brooks, and Emma Lehn Fletcher; 3 great grandsons, Cruise, Emmett Max, and Walker Johnson; nephew, Ricky (Cathy) Jacobs; nieces, Vickie (Larry) Stallings, and Gloria Adams; and countless other family and friends.
Pallbearers: Fletcher Wilkinson, Ethan Wilkinson, Matt Johnson, Ricky Fletcher, Ricky Jacobs, Larry Stallings, Brian Jacobs, Chris Adams, and Lee Adams.
