ORRVILLE — Orrville is marking their Founder’s Day with a grand celebration.
The town of Orrville is kicking off the day’s festivities with a parade outside of the Orrville Convention Center Saturday at 9 a.m. The parade will be followed by gospel entertainment, a greeting from Mayor Louvenia Lumpkin, hayrides, an Orrville history lesson, a country line dance performance from Salem Elementary School and other family-fun activities held at the Orrville Community Center.
“Every community needs to know how it was founded, when it was founded and who founded it,” Lumpkin said. “It’s good history, and we want to keep the history alive.”
Food vendors, arts and crafts booths and other attractions will be available at Founder’s Day, Orrville Founder’s Day coordinator Lula Watters said.
During the celebration, a trivia game about the history of Orrville will take place with those who correctly answer questions earning a prize.
“There’s so much history down here,” Watters said.
Attendees will also have a chance to participate in a dominoes competition that can earn them the title of king or queen of dominoes.
“It’s a full day of fun, so we are urging everyone to come out and support the second founder’s day,” Watters said.
Admission is free to the public.
