Dallas County is now home to the best high school basketball player in the state of Alabama.
Wednesday, Dallas County High senior William Lee was named Mr. Basketball, adding to his list of accomplishments, which include a state championship. When you add the award and the state championship, there’s little doubt Lee’s the best player in the state.
Lee’s teammates certainly played an important role in the state championship. And, Dallas County’s coaches should also be praised for developing Lee into a stellar athlete. Hornets’ head coach Willie Moore deserves just as much praise as Lee for a basketball season we won’t soon forget.
Following graduation, Lee will head to Birmingham to play for the UAB Blazers.
It’s encouraging to see a Dallas County athlete head to a major, Division 1 basketball program.
As Lee continues his basketball career, we wish him the best and hope to soon add him to the list of professional athletes from the Selma area.
