Tiebreaker decides Jubilee golf tournament

The ninth annual golf tournament co-sponsored by the Selma Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. and the organizers of the River Crossing Jubilee came down to a tiebreaker.

The team of Col. John Lovett, Harold Lovett and Albert Southall finished the 18-hole, par 72 course with a 64 and won the tournament, winning a tiebreaker with Ed Smiley, Melvin Dale and Moses Ngirailab. The score on the fifteenth hole decided the tiebreaker.

The team of Bud Easley, Clarence Puckett and Jesse Williams placed third with a score of 68.

The team of Mary McIntosh, Linda Green and Pat Gregory won first place for the ladies with a score of 69. Tommie Gilbert and Edmondia Borden placed second with a 79, and the team of Mary Boone and May Tullis placed third with a total of 90.

Half of the funds raised in the tournament will be used to support the community service activities of the Selma Kappa League. The Kappa League is a national organization oriented toward helping young men of high school age grow and develop their leadership talents.
