Senator, Panthers boys see seasons end; Lady Panthers win big

MONTGOMERY — Morgan Academy’s boys varsity (13-12) fell to No. 1 Glenwood Academy (28-2) 80-41 in the Class AAA AISA quarterfinals Friday at Huntingdon College.

Dalton Lee led the Senators with 18 points and Ford Manderson added seven points.

With the loss, the Senators season is over.

“I’m proud of the guys for making it this far,” Morgan head coach Bob Taylor said after the game, adding that Glenwood is the best team the Senators have faced this season.

The Senators trailed 20-0 after the first quarter and trailed 38-14 at the half.

 

Excel 69, Southside 59 (Boys)

Southside, who reached the Class 3A state championship game in 2013, will not even make it out of its area tournament in 2014.

The Panthers saw their season come to an end Friday night in a 69-59 loss to Excel in the Class 3A, Area 2 basketball tournament.

 

Southside 59, Excel 21 (Girls)

Southside’s Lady Panthers kept their season going with a blowout win over Excel in the semifinals of the Class 3A, Area 2 tournament. The Lady Panthers will face Straughn in the championship game on Tuesday night.
