Dorothy J. “Dot” Foster, age 81, of Green Pond, passed away January 28, 2014. Dot was a beloved Christian wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She has a loving spirit and always carried a sweet smile. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. She always wanted to assure people she was “hanging in there” regardless of how she was feeling. Dot was the caretaker of the Hickman Chapel concessions. She was also co-owner of 5 & 80 Truck Stop and F & F Backhoe Service. She was preceded in death by her husband, N. C. Foster; her son, Norman Clifford Foster; her daughter, Stephanie Elaine Foster; her parents, Fuller Hoggle and Marvin and Clara West; her brother, Buddy Foster and four infant siblings. Dorothy is survived by her five children, Noah Foster (Mary Ann) of Valley Grande, Weldon Foster (Jennifer) of Green Pond, Pam Stephens of Green Pond, Mark Foster of Green Pond, and Violet Majors (Wayne) of West Blocton; sixteen grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; her brother, Howard Hoggle; and her sister, Louise Blake. The family of Dot wishes to extend our sincere thanks to many family and friends, Dr. Frank Miller, Dr. Michele Postma, Dr. Livingston, Fresenius Dialysis Center, nurses and staff of UAB Medical West, and Amedisys Home Health. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 1, 2014 11:00 a.m at Green Pond Church of God of Prophecy with Bro. Ben Corley, Bill Noe, and Jessie Foster officiating. Burial will follow at Hickman Chapel cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, January 31, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the church.
