The Selma Police Department determined Anderson and Mendenhall had gotten into physical altercation with the victim at a residence within the Block and that physical altercation led the suspects to chase the victim firing shots and the victim firing back at them, according to the Selma Police Department.

The Selma Police Department Officers responded to a gun shot victim on the 1400 block of Green Street 8 p.m. Thursday. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a black male in his earlier 20s in the rear of 1407 Green Street on the ground deceased from multiple gunshot wounds.

“After clearing the crime scene, information on Davaris Mendenhall led detectives to his location on South Mechanic Street, in which he was taken into custody without incident, and later arrested for murder,” Muhannad wrote in the press release.

Muhannad said that further information led detectives to Cedar Drive where they made contact with the Anderson family; he was later brought to the police department and arrested for murder.
