Sturdivant Hall was decorated in the finest seasonal trimmings Thursday night as the historic building played host the Selma Board of Realtors’ annual dinner, during which a new president and three officers were named to the board.
KellySue Giampietro, associate broker with Cornerstone Realty, was honored as the new President of the Selma Board of Realtors, a distinction she was thrilled to receive.
“I’m excited for this year because of all the goals I have for myself and the group and for several ideas I have,” Giampietro said. “But, the most important thing for me is that this group continues to be a valuable asset to the community.”
Giampietro said that one of her the personal projects she hopes to make a reality over the coming year is an award she wants the board to give out to promote community and friendship in Selma.
“It’s going to be called the Good Neighbor Award and I want it to be something that celebrates this community and the good neighbors we have here,” Giampietro said.
Giampietro said she had been a member of the Selma Board of Realtors for 10 years, serving in several positions of the Board’s leadership, including most recently working as President Elect.
The Selma Board of Realtors is the local chapter of the National Association of Realtors. NAR represents 1 million members across the country and the organization’s website says it provides a “facility for professional development, research and exchange of information among its members and to the public and government for the purpose of preserving the free enterprise system and the right to own real property.”
The three officers named during Thursday’s ceremony were Sandra Mitchell, President Elect; Shirley Dawson, Secretary; and Helene Cutris, Treasurer.
