Selma’s Christmas tree lighting and fireworks ceremonies have been rescheduled for Friday at 5:30.
The ceremonies will be one week later than originally planned at the same location, Riverfront Park.
The Christmas tree lighting and fireworks will also include a performance from a praise team and a local choir.
The events were originally scheduled for Dec. 6, but Mayor George Evans postponed the ceremonies because of a rain threat. Evans said the decision was made to make the events as enjoyable as possible.
“We spent that money on the fireworks and I just want to make sure people have the chance to enjoy it,” he said after cancelling the ceremonies.
