MARION — Despite struggling to score in the second half, the Selma Lady Saints held on to defeat Francis Marion 47-35 Friday night.

The Saints were held to just seven second half points after taking a commanding 40-23 lead into halftime, but were able to hang on because of big plays by Takesha Wilson, who finished with 17 points and four steals.

Selma’s Ayana Moore also had a great game, with 12 points, five rebounds, four assists and eight steals.

“I think we came out a little too relaxed there in the second half, Selma head coach Anthony Harris said. “We were trying to run our offense. We got caught up in that man and we got mixed up a little but other than that, you know, being young and tired might have got to us.”

Lakevin Curry scored 19 points to lead the Rams. She hit three 3-pointers in the second half to keep Francis Marion in the game, but by that point the Rams had already dug too deep of a hole.
