Bogue Chitto Community residents will have another opportunity to ask questions about switching to the West Dallas County water system Saturday.

The West Dallas County Water Authority will have a public information meeting at 1 p.m. Saturday at New Vernon Church.

The meeting is for residents of Dallas County roads 3, 29 and 45, but the meeting is open to the public Dallas County Commission Larry Nickels said.

Nickels said residents could ask questions and turn in the application fee at the meeting. Though, he said the water authority is not requiring any money be turned in at the meeting.

Residents of Bogue Chitto — an unincorporated community — currently use water wells. Residents asked about the possibility of switching to a water service at an October commission meeting after wells began drying up. Some residents also complained of faucets spewing sand.

The cost of adding Bogue Chitto to the West Dallas County water system is estimated to be $1 million.
