Virginia Kerlin Phillippi

Virginia Kerlin Phillippi passed away Saturday, November 9th in Camden, AL. She was born on November 20, 1927, in Mobile to Reverend George W. Kerlin and his wife Pearl Moore Kerlin. She graduated from Huntington College with a degree in music with an organ concentration and then became the music director at the First Methodist Church in Brewton. In Brewton, she met Dr. F.M. “Frank” Phillippi, Jr. and they were married on March 17, 1950. They spent many years in Brewton before retiring to Possum Bend near Camden. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Camden and loved to read, play bridge, work crossword puzzles, and take care of her animals. She is survived by her sons, Dr. F.M. “Bucky” Phillippi, III, and his wife, Diane, of Meridian, MS, and George M. “Mac” Phillippi and his wife, Martha, of Birmingham, and her grandchildren, Dr. F.M. “Mark” Phillippi, IV, and his wife, Cathie, of Jackson, MS, Kathryn P. Smith and her husband, Brad, of Fairhope, and Patrick K. Phillippi of Washington, D.C. She is also survived by five great grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, November 12th, at 11 o’clock at the Cook Family Cemetery in Possum Bend.
