It may be time to dust off the winter coats as Tuesday and Wednesday temperatures are expected to dip below freezing.
The National Weather Service in Birmingham expects the low Tuesday to reach 28 degrees in the Selma area, while Wednesday’s low is expected to be even colder at 27 degrees.
The cold spell will be short-lived, meteorologist Kevin Laws said.
“It will be noticeable about mid-afternoon in the Selma area,” Laws said. “The winds are really going to pick up to about 15 m.p.h. or even 20 m.p.h. Tons of arctic air is going to come flying down.”
Tuesday’s high is expected to be 63 degrees and 51 degrees on Wednesday.
He also recommended bringing outdoor pets in and checking on neighbors.
