MARION JUNCTION — A Marion Junction man was arrested early Wednesday morning on a burglary charge after allegedly robbing a liquor store on Marie Foster Street.

Thomas Edward Turner, 43, was arrested and charged with second-degree burglary after leading officers on a brief foot chase. Turner is being held in the Dallas County Jail on a $100,000 bond.

An alarm activation just before midnight on Tuesday alerted police officers, according to a news release.

Once officers got to the liquor store, they found the front door’s glass shattered. Police searched the area and found two cases of vodka in a nearby dumpster.

Police and Alcoholic Beverage Control Agents reviewed surveillance footage and saw a black male enter the store after smashing the glass door.

Police patrolled the area and found Turner riding a bicycle on the 1500 block St. Ann Street. Turner attempted to escape on his bike before he abandoned his bike and attempted to escape on foot.

He was detained and arrested on probable cause for second-degree burglary, the release said.
