Behind a dominating rushing attack, Sparta Academy was able to coast to a 56-6 win over Meadowview Christian on a brisk Friday night at Wasden Field in Selma.
Meadowview Christian head coach Lebo Jones said his team didn’t play well at all in the first half but hung in there during the third and fourth quarters.
“We played hard for the first two possessions of the game but after that the other team hit us in the mouth and we just didn’t respond,” Jones said. “Our young team came out and fought hard in the second half and I’m proud of that.”
Running back Chance House led the Sparta offense, piling up 185 yards on the ground with four touchdowns, three of which came in the first half. On the other side of the ball, the Warrior defense held the Trojans to only eight first downs during the contest.
Meadowview would eventually find the end zone with 7:56 remaining in the game on a drive that included a 26-yard scamper by C.J. Grimes, putting the Trojans in the red-zone.
Dakota Sanders muscled his way across the goal line a couple of plays later making the score 49-6.
Sparta chewed up the clock and scored once more on their final possession, ending the game with a 56-6 margin of victory.
Meadowview, 1-8 overall, will wrap up their season next week against South Montgomery Academy. Sparta Academy improved to 2-3 in region play and 3-6 on the season with the victory.
Next week, the Warriors take on Abbeville Christian.
