The fiscal year for municipalities ends Sept. 30 and the city of Selma is working to complete its budget for next year.
As part of the process, the Selma City Council will meet Monday, Sept. 23 at 4 p.m. for a public hearing to receive comments on the proposed budget for FY 2014. The meeting will be held at Selma City Hall in the council chambers.
Selma City Council President Corey Bowie, during Thursday’s work session, said the council must pass the budget by Oct. 1, which is the beginning of the new fiscal year.
Bowie said residents can obtain a copy of the budget by calling the city council’s office at 874-1234.
The council’s next regular meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 5 p.m. also at Selma City Hall in the council chambers.
