Dallas County residents living near Craig Field have an opportunity to voice any and all frustrations Thursday at a community meeting.

Dallas County Commissioner Connel Towns will host a public meeting at 6 p.m. at Bruce K. Craig Elementary School to receive residents’ input on problems facing the community.

Towns said he decided to call the meeting after hearing stories from local residents.

“There are three major things the community has problems with,” Towns said. “People are just riding around, shooting in the air. People are setting fire to abandoned houses and there is some concern about getting the streets repaired.”

He said all residents are welcome to attend.

Representatives from several local agencies — including the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department, the Selma Police Department and the Craig Field Airport and Industrial Authority will be present to answer questions, Towns said.

“We can’t solve problems by ourselves,” he said. “Hopefully we can pull the community together and work as a whole to solve some of these problems Craig Field is facing.”
