Allegra Jordan will be at the library on Thursday, Sept. 19 to talk about her book, “Harvard, 1914: A War Romance.

Bob Inman will talk about his book “The Governor’s Lady” on Oct. 9.

Author John S. Sledge will discuss his book “Southern Bound: A Gulf Coast Journalist on Books, Writers, and Literacy Pilgrimages of the Heart” on Nov, 7, and Carolyn Haines will conclude the season with a talk about her book, “Smarty Bones: A Sarah Booth Delaney Mystery” on Dec. 5.

Each event starts with a lunch, which will be served at noon, and the authors are scheduled to begin their presentations at 12:30 p.m. and will run for roughly half-an-hour.

After each talk, attendees will have an opportunity to interact one-on-one with the author, and will also have a chance to purchase their books which will be for sale the day of their visit.

Kellie Robinson, a business assistant at the library, said finding authors who Selma residents would be interested in is the library’s first priority when putting together the list of presenters.

“We try to get local authors or people with connections to Alabama or the South,” Robinson said.

Robinson, who started working at the library a year ago, said she is looking forward to the upcoming season.

Attendance costs $8, and anyone interested in attending the events can make a reservation in person, or by calling the library at (334) 874-1725.
