‘My Black Belt Summer Road Trip’ photo contest announced

MONTGOMERY — Taken a trip to Alabama’s Black Belt this summer that left lasting memories and recorded those memories with your camera? Or, on a drive through the region, did you see something you just had to take a picture of?

If so, the Alabama Black Belt Adventures Association wants you to share your photos. And as a reward, you can win a whitewater rafting package for two on the Chattahoochee River at the Southeast’s newest whitewater course.

Alabama Black Belt Adventures is proud to announce its “My Black Belt Summer Road Trip” photo contest. And we are looking for your best outdoors photos taken this summer anywhere in the 23-county Alabama Black Belt region.

The photo contest is divided into three main categories: water and water recreation, summer wildlife

and unique sites and destinations. In the water category, examples include sunsets, water sports, canoeing and fishing. Wildlife includes birds, deer and other animals you come across. And the destinations category includes historic sites, natural beauty and other attractions that help make the Black Belt special.

In addition to the three main categories, there are three age divisions in each category: 12 and under, 13-17 and 18 and up. First- through third-place winners in each category and age division will be determined by the number of likes on Alabama Black Belt Adventures’ Facebook page.

The contest runs through Sept. 30.

First-place winners will receive a whitewater-rafting package for two at Whitewater Express-Chattahoochee (www.whitewaterexpress.com/chattahoochee), courtesy of Whitewater Express and the Russell County Chamber of Commerce.
