Albert Earnest “Sparky” Barkmann, Jr.

Albert Earnest “Sparky” Barkmann, Jr., 89, formerly of Selma, and a resident of Daphne, passed away Monday, June 10, 2013 at the William F. Green State Veterans Home. He was a veteran of the US Army. Sparky and his wife, Dorothy, built and operated Sparks R.V. Park in Selma for 40 years. Sparky was a godly, loving and compassionate man who gave freely and blessed the lives of everyone he met. He is predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Wallace Barkmann.

Surviving are one son, Albert E. “Sparky” (Jackie Fowler) Barkmann, III of The Woodlands, TX, one daughter; Sherri (Larry) Nichols of Daphne, formerly of Selma, AL and ten grandchildren; Albert E. (AL) Barkmann, IV (Michelle Finney Barkmann), Lauren Nichols (Jason) McKay of Mobile, Kate Barkmann of Houston, TX, Lee (Ashley) Nichols of Loxley, Eric (Andrea) Barkmann of Houston, TX, Emily Nichols (Michael) Tupper of Honolulu, Hawaii, Carly Nichols (Zach) Trost of Montgomery, AL, Natalie Barkmann of The Woodlands, TX, Christina Barkmann, of The Woodlands, TX and Blake Nichols of Daphne, AL; five great-grand children, Madison Grace Nichols, Albert E. Barkmann, V, Jackson Barkmann, Brooklyn Harris, and Julia Harris.

A celebration of Sparky’s life will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, June 22, 2013 at Elkdale Baptist Church in Selma. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made
