It looked as if Greg Tillman State Farm would roll early on, leading 7-1 after two innings.  First Cahawba kept chipping away, scoring three runs in the third inning and eventually evening the score in the seventh.

The rally to win was completed in the top of the eighth when Trevor Bates’ single drove in the game deciding run. First Cahawba tacked on one more run on a State Farm throwing error that same inning to wrap up the scoring.

Joel Taylor pitched nearly flawless baseball after entering the game in the second inning and First Cahawba’s timely hits made the difference down the stretch.

Taylor pitched seven innings for First Cahawba, who played great baseball after a shaky start that resulted in a big hole. Greg Tillman State Farm scored four runs in the first inning and three runs in the second inning to race out to their early lead.

Greg Tillman State Farm had seven hits, with only two of those coming outside the first two innings. First Cahawba had nine hits.

The Dixie Majors’ division features players from fifteen to nineteen years old.
