Mr. A.T. Vaughn

Mr. A.T. Vaughn, 84, of Selma, AL died April 27, 2013 in Lawrenceville, GA following a long-term illness. A memorial service will be held at Union United Methodist Church, Co. Rd. 67 in Sardis, AL.on Sunday, June 9 at 2 p.m. with Reverend Linda Tarver officiating.

A.T. was born July 8, 1928 in Madison County, GA, son of the late Floyd and Elsie Collins Vaughn.

He was a graduate of Cannon High School, Kannapolis, NC and was a veteran of the US Army serving in Germany during the Korean War era. He was retired from AT&T with 38 years of service. He served as treasurer of the Alabama Chapter 34 AT&T Pioneers and was a member of the Selma Civitan Club.

A.T. was a member of Union United Methodist Church in Sardis, AL. He enjoyed NASCAR and traveling with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Frankie Faye Baity Vaughn and nephew Dolan Baity.

Survivors include two daughters, Vixie (Jeff) Friedman of Ash Grove, MO and Elizabeth (Dale) Wasson of Cumming, GA; grandchildren, Matthew (Sara) Friedman of Las Vegas, NV, Jesse and Bethany Friedman of Philadelphia, PA, Adam, Elisa, and Jed Friedman of Ash Grove, MO, and Katie (Sean) Allred of Fairbanks, AK. He is also survived by great-grandchildren Nehemiah and Tova Friedman of Las Vegas, NV and Emma, Ethan, and Tristan Allred of Fairbanks, AK, one brother, J.W. (Louise) Vaughn of Kannapolis, NC, and one sister, Loretta (Henry) McDowell of Hickory, NC.
