The Honorable Donald L. Barrett of Valley Grande, AL passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, May 16, 2013. He was 69 years old.

Donald served in the U.S. Army before going to work for the Post Office. He worked his way up to Post Master and retired after 40 years in 2000. Donald loved to garden, fish, and read. He loved watching his grandkids play sports.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Joyce McAfee Barrett; son: Timothy Barrett; daughter: Pam Gabehart(Kenneth); he was blessed with 4 grandchildren: April B. Sanders(Wallace), Mason Gabehart, John Barrett Gabehart, Kensley Gabehart; and 2 great grandsons: Chayton Sanders and Shilah Sanders; and a special niece: Collette McLaughlin.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 19, 2013 at Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home with Rev. John Ackerman officiating. Burial will follow at Pineview Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held Saturday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Honorary Pallbearers will be The Retired Postal Service Employees and Purvis Smitherman. Pallbearers will be Art Powers,and his nieces and nephews.
