“Eli has spoken here before and he is very knowledgeable about the football program, and he can give us great insight into what’s happening with the recruiting and the team looks like through spring practice,” Leet said, adding that Gold is always entertaining and the club is thrilled to have him come.

Ten high school seniors will be awarded $1,200 each and were selected based on criteria outlined by the Alabama National Alumni Society. The students, based on their financial need, grades and school involvement among other things will be given the awards to help ease their transition to the University of Alabama for their freshman year, Leet said.

“We are hoping this will help them as they become freshman at the University of Alabama,” Leet said. “The money will make things easier for them financially and will help them go through their first year to get adjusted.”

Leet said the students are great young people who he is proud will attend Alabama in the fall.

The students from Dallas and Wilcox Counties include: Hannah M. Davis from Dallas County High School; Me’Shellai McWilliams from Selma High School; Amy E. Chandler and Lizzie Reeves from Morgan Academy;

Jennifer E. Sims and Rikisha Bridges from Wilcox Central; Brian Daniels from Wilcox Academy; Candice Clark from the Alabama School of Math & Science; and Autumn Williams and Fayth L. Williams from Evangel Christian Academy.

The banquet is open to all Bama Club members and non-members, but reservations must be made by Thursday, May 16 by calling 334-875-2672 or emailing bamaclub@mindspring.com. The cost is $25 for members of the Bama Club to attend and $35 for non-members. Checks can be made to the Dallas Wilcox Bama Club and mailed to P.O. Box 2395 Selma, AL 36702.
