Mary Beekman Alison

Mary Beekman Alison, age 95, a resident of Carlowville, Alabama, died Friday May 10, 2013 at her home. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Reynolds Alison of Carlowville. She graduated from Carlowville High School and Alabama College, now the University of Montevallo, with a Bachelor of Science degree.

She was a lifelong member of St. Pauls Episcopal Church, Carlowville, and active in church work. She sang in the choir for many years, served on the Vestry, was the United Thank Offering Coordinator and was church organist for 22 years.

She taught Vocational Home Economics for 2 years and was employed by the Department of the Air Force, Maxwell Air Force Base Hospital, for 38 years. She enjoyed traveling the world with her mother and sister for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother William Lockwood Alison; sister, Evelyn Lee Alison and sister-in-law, Sara Gross Alison. She is survived by her sister, Henrietta Alison Boykin; brother-in-law, Claude C. Boykin, Jr. both of Huntsville, AL; nieces, Ellen Alison Rutherford and her husband Jeffery Alan Rutherford of Kenner, LA; Charlotte Lockwood Alison of Minter, AL and Catherine Alison Boykin of Madison, AL; great-nieces, Sara, Ashley and Alison Rutherford of Kenner, LA.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday May 12, 2013 at St. Pauls Episcopal Church Carlowville with burial in St. Pauls Cemetery with the Reverend Louis Skipper and Rev. Ben Alford officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.
