A suspect identified in the rape of a juvenile Saturday evening was arrested Monday, adding to what was already a disturbing criminal record.
Selma Police officials said Frederick Jermain Prince, 37, has been charged with first-degree rape of a juvenile female Saturday evening in the Valley Creek Homes area. Once called, officers responded and found the victim to be a young teenager.
“The victim said that during the night, while asleep, the suspect awakened her,” Selma Chief of Police William T. Riley. “The suspect was jabbing her with a kitchen fork. She said when she began to struggle the suspect would jab her with the fork.”
Riley said Prince reportedly then sexually assaulted the victim and “threatened to kill her and other family members.”
During the investigation, officers also discovered Prince was a registered sex offender and had failed to properly register his address with law enforcement.
According to records, Prince was convicted of raping a woman in June 1997 in Dallas County.
He reportedly had updated his information with law enforcement in December, but through this week’s investigation was living at an address different than the one he recorded with local law enforcement.
In the department’s announcement, Prince was charged with first-degree rape and failure of adult sex offender to register with local law enforcement. He was placed in the Dallas County Jail under a $515,000 bond.
