The suspect is considered armed and dangerous.
With that simple sentence, the Selma Police Department is urging tremendous caution while at the same time seeking information on the whereabouts of Joshua McClendon, 20, a man they believe is responsible for the death of another man Sunday.
According to Selma Chief of Police William T. Riley, police responded to 116-D Beech Creek Apartments shortly after 9 p.m. where they found a black male lying in the roadway next to the driver side of a vehicle.
“They victim had suffered a gunshot wound to the chest area,” Riley said. “The victim was transported to a local hospital and later died of his wounds.”
Riley said the investigation and interviews led them to identify Joshua McClendon as the suspect that supposedly shot and killed the victim.
McLendon, who is described as being 5-feet 11-inches, weighing 190 pounds, remains at large and there is a murder warrant outstanding for his arrest.
“He is considered armed and dangerous,” Riley said.
The name of the victim, and any other information related to the incident, is not being released at this time.
