Dixie Flips Gymnastics has strong showing at state meet in Montgomery

The Dixie Flips Gymnasts competed in a state gymnastics competition in Montgomery on Nov. 30 — Dec. 2 There were approximately 1,000 girls competing divided into groups by skill level and age. In the level 3 competition, Dixie Flips gymnasts ranked tenth out of 17 teams with a score of 108.72. Individually all the girls did very well, putting forth their best effort. -- Submitted

There were approximately 1,000 girls competing divided into groups by skill level and age.

In the level 3 competition, Dixie Flips gymnasts ranked tenth out of 17 teams with a score of 108.72. Individually all the girls did very well, putting forth their best effort.

In division 3A, the youngest girls, Evey Craig scored an 8.0 on vault for tenth place; 7.95 on bars for ninth; 8.375 on beam for ninth; 8.15 on floor for 11th; and 32.475 all around for 11th place.

In division 3C, Bailey Brown placed sixth on vault with an 8.85; first on bars with a 9.1; tenth on beam with an 8.175; third on floor with a 8.75; and fifth all around with a 34.875.

Dixie Flips’ level 3D state champion, Sarah Lloyd Free, placed third on vault with a 9.45; third on bars with an 8.9; first on beam with a 9.55; fifth on floor with a 9.2; and first all around with a 37.1.

In division 3N, Erin Odom placed 11th on vault with a 9.05; eighth on bars with an 8.675; 13th on beam with an 8.15; 13th on floor with an 8.225; and 12th all around with a 34.1.

In division 3R, Carrie Dennis finished 13th on vault with an 8.6; 12th on bars with an 8.15; ninth on beam with 8.55; ninth on floor with an 8.9; and 12th on all around with a 34.2.

In division 3S, Camryn Baggett placed third on vault with a 9.55; fourth on bars with a 9.0; third on beam with an 8.45; third on floor with a 9.025; and third all around with a score of 36.025.

Dixie Flips’ level 4 team placed 16th out of 19 teams with a score of 99.875.

Division 4R, Averee Adams placed tenth on vault with a score of 8.8; fourth on bars with an 8.8; 11th on beam with a 7.95; sixth on floor with an 8.8; and eighth all around with a 34.350.

In division 4Y, Mary Carolyn Haugen placed sixth on vault with a 9.0; tenth on bars with an 8.325; 12th on beam with a 7.2; 11th on floor with a 7.5; and 11th all around with a 32.025.

In division 4Z, Gracie Colley placed sixth on vault with a 9.0; seventh on bars with an 8.4; third on beam with an 8.55; ninth on floor with a 7.55; and ninth all around with a 33.5.

Dixie Flips’ head coach Tracey Craig said she’s proud of the girl’s accomplishments this year and they are now working on improving their skills for competition in the upcoming spring season meets.
