James Bert Chandler, 83, of Maplesville died Monday, November 19, 2012.
He was born on Friday, September 20, 1929 in Chilton Co., AL, Son of the late Marion Dykes Chandler and the late Mamie Lockhart Chandler.
He was a life-long farmer and avid sportsman. He served in the U.S. Navy for 6 years and was a proud veteran of the Korean War. He retired as a Battalion Chief from the Selma Fire Department after 30 years of service. He was a faithful husband, extraordinary father, loving pawpaw, cherished friend, and an inspiration to all who knew him. He ran a good race, fought a good fight, and kept his faith until the end. He will be greatly missed.
Surviving are his Son, Ronnie (Dianne) Chandler of Selma, AL; 2 Daughters, Cam (Bruce) Hutton of Clanton, AL, Holly (Charles) Gann of Tuscaloosa, AL; Brother, Barney (Faye) Chandler; 4 Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his Wife, Alice Maye Chandler.
Friends will be received from 12-2, Wednesday, November 21, 2012 @ Martin Funeral Home Chapel.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at 2:30 P.M. at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Cem. with Rev. Kirk Smith officiating.
Interment will follow in Pilgrim Rest Bapt. Cem., Billingsley, AL.
