An altercation between two men — two men who were intoxicated — led to a shooting with one man sent to the hospital and the other to jail.
Selma Chief of Police William T. Riley said the late Thursday night shooting took place on the 800 block of 6th Street.
“The suspect, Eric Parnell shot Mathew Minifield in the right leg,” Riley said. “Both were intoxicated and arguing when the shooting occurred.”
Riley said Parnell was taken into custody and that Minifield’s injuries did not appear to be life threatening.
Parnell has since been charged with second-degree assault and was placed in the Dallas County Jail under a $15,000 cash bond. According to jail reports, Parnell made bond.
